Japan National Committee for UN Women Awarded by Foreign Minister in 2011
The Japan National Committee for UN Women had an honor of being awarded by the Foreign Minister and attended the awarding ceremony held at the Iikura Kokan on 28 July.
This award was provided to individuals and organizations for their contribution to enhancing friendly relationship with foreign countries. Current awardees include 68 individuals and 30 organizations (among whom 16 individuals and 3 organizations were awarded within Japan and the remaining 52 individuals and 27 organizations, abroad).
The Japan National Committee was awarded for the valuable activities that they had undertaken since its inception in 1992. They include dissemination and fund-raising in cooperation with foreign organizations regarding women’s empowerment and equality; contribution to UN Women’s activities; contribution to international cooperation in gender equality and to the establishment of society where women and men can participate equally. On 28 July Ms. Michiko Nakamura, Honorary President and Ms. Makiko Arima, President took part in the ceremony.
